Abstract: As álgebras de Schur são instrumentos fundamentais na teoria
das representações do grupo linear e do grupo simétrico. Nesta palestra
apresento estas álgebras e as suas propriedades principais.
Exponho também resultados recentes sobre a construção de resoluções
minimais projectivas dos módulos simples da subálgebra de Borel da
álgebra de Schur para GL(n).

spaces to modules. We take a new look at some well-known dimension
formulas .

Title: Constructing perverse coherent t-structures
Abstract: The study of t-structures on triangulated categories has
played an important role in representation theory and algebraic geometry
since the work of Beilinson, Bernstein and Deligne on perverse sheaves.
In this talk, we shall use tilting with respect to torsion theories on
the category of graded modules over the homogeneous coordinate ring of a
projective variety X to construct perverse coherent t-structures
(following Deligne and Bezrukavnikov) on the derived category of
coherent sheaves over X.

Title: Small infinite noncommutative groups
Abstract: The title is partly a stupid joke, and in part it is meant to
suggest how we should think of the "fancy" title, which could be stated
as: "Classifying affine Hopf algebras of small Gel'fand-Kirillov
dimension". So the first part of the talk will explain the concepts in
both titles, and then the second part will report on recent joint work
with James Zhang (U of Washington).
